Michael Bonner

President Global TV Distribution

Michael Bonner became President of Global TV Distribution at NBCUniversal in January 2025. Based in Los Angeles, Bonner overseas the licensing of NBCUniversal’s film and television content globally for paid, free and new media platforms. His group comprises 550 employees in 20 offices around the world, supporting over 200 territories and 1,800 clients.

Previously, Bonner served as President of Universal Pictures Home Entertainment. There he led the distribution strategy and execution across digital and physical formats, for theatrical titles from Universal Pictures, Focus Features, and NBC Universal’s television properties, as well as for several third-party production partners.

With over thirty years of experience in content distribution, spanning several inflection points of the industry, Bonner’s achievements include helping pioneer Universal’s entry into premium video-on-demand (PVOD); overseeing NBC Universal’s North American film and television digital transactional businesses where he led the company’s domestic digital distribution business to record year-over-year growth, and was instrumental in helping develop and shape NBC Universal’s Hulu partnership.

Earlier in his career, as Vice President, Business Development for Universal Television Group (UTG), Bonner was responsible for the strategic development of the company’s cable and television assets. The scope of his role included leveraging existing programming and distribution platforms in the development of new channels and emerging businesses.

Prior to joining Universal, Michael held positions as Vice President of Business Affairs for Studios USA and as Vice President of Finance/Business Development for USA Broadcasting, both divisions of Barry Diller’s USA’s Entertainment Group.

He began his career in entertainment in 1993 at Savoy Pictures where he held several financial management positions for the fledgling film distribution company. In 1996 he moved into the company’s television division where he managed SF Broadcasting, a Savoy/Fox Joint Venture.

Currently, Bonner serves on the Board of Directors of The Digital Entertainment Group, Studio Distribution Services Joint Venture, as well as on the Board of Movies Anywhere, the cross-studio digital film application.
